The transition from Form 1 to Grade 9 under Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) involves several significant changes aimed at improving the quality and relevance of education.
Here are the key changes:

1.  Structure and Duration: The new system follows a 2-6-3-3-3 structure, replacing the 8-4-4 system. Students spend two years in pre-primary, six years in primary, three years in junior secondary (Grades 7-9), three years in senior secondary, and three years in university

2. Assessment Methods: Continuous assessment tests (CATs) are now a major component of student evaluation, reducing the emphasis on final exams. This approach aims to provide a more comprehensive assessment of a student's abilities and progress

3. Curriculum Content: The curriculum has been updated to include more practical and hands-on learning experiences. Subjects such as Integrated Science, Health Education, and Pre-Technical Studies have been introduced to provide a broader and more relevant education

4. Learning Areas: The number of learning areas has been adjusted to reduce the burden on students. For example, in junior secondary (Grades 7-9), there are nine compulsory learning areas, including Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, and Religious Education

5. Life Skills and Values: There is a stronger emphasis on life skills and values education, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also emotionally and socially competent1.

6. Digital Literacy: Digital literacy is integrated across various subjects to ensure students are proficient in using technology for learning and everyday task
